3 Ways to Invest in Yourself For Under $100
By: Martin Dasko on July 14, 2015“I want to make more money, but nothing seems to be working. I’m fed up with being broke.”
A buddy of mine complained to me about his financial situation. He wanted to make more money and live a better life. I knew that he wasn’t really doing anything about this. Sure, it’s fun to post quotes online and to complain. It takes a lot of effort to actually do something.
You have to invest in yourself if you want to increase your income and open up more opportunities for yourself. This is easier said than done. This is why I wanted to write a piece for everyone on a tight budget looking to increase their income.
How can you invest in yourself for under $100?
Buy a book
You don’t even have to get out of bed for this one. You can buy a book on your phone and read it. A book will cost you anywhere from $5-25. A book can also change your perspective and open your eyes to a whole new world.
Anything that you could possibly want to do has already been done. You’re not a unique snowflake. Someone has already done that. Read a how-to book or a biography and see what they did. Then repeat these steps. A book is easily the best investment if you want to take action right now.
Take someone out for lunch
Who doesn’t love talking about their own accomplishments? I could talk about myself for hours and enjoy going for lunch with friends that I mentor.
If you want to make more money or find a better job, than try to find someone in that situation and ask them to go for lunch. You don’t have to be intimidated. You could send a text or a quick message over Facebook. Everyone’s on Facebook these days. Take the hour to pick their mind and ask dozens of questions.
You don’t have to worry about going broke paying for lunches because chances are that the successful person won’t even let you pay.
Shadow a successful friend
A buddy of mine renovates buildings. When I had my rental property I hung out with him a few times to see how he did things. This friend was kind enough to teach me about rental properties. If it weren’t for him, I would’ve spent a ton of money on hiring a rental management firm. Instead I did everything on my own just because I asked him if I could shadow him. Truthfully, he really just wanted a drinking partner.
The more you learn, the more you earn. Stop loitering and playing video games. You won’t improve your situation by complaining on Twitter. Go and invest in yourself. You only need $100 to get started.
