Drivers beware! Car theft is on the rise in Canada, according to the 2016 edition of the Insurance Bureau of Canada’s (IBC) Top 10 Most Frequently Stolen Vehicles.

Auto theft is up 6% from last year, with the IBC saying the number of stolen vehicles has risen to 78,849. The most popular target for thieves on the national scale are older model Ford pickup trucks. An interesting outlier on the national list is the 2015 Toyota 4Runner, which sits at number six. Typically, newer vehicles are avoided by thieves, thanks to their more robust security systems.
