Technology knows no limits when it comes to disrupting industries.
The latest industry to undergo a tech revolution is insurance; now being referred to as ‘insurtech’. In response to this emerging, industry-wise innovation, Aviva Canada and Ryerson University’s Digital Media Zone (DMZ) have partnered to launch an accelerator program for insurtech start-ups looking for rapid growth and exposure.
The 4-month program — which is now accepting applications — is open to early-stage, innovative startups that offer a solution or service to the insurance industry. Six startups will be selected to participate in the program, which offers industry mentorship, sales strategies, partner connections, and dedicated workspaces.
“Building on our partnership with the DMZ at Ryerson University, programs like the one we are launching today create real opportunity to accelerate needed innovation in our industry, and ultimately that’s good for insurance buying consumers,” says CIO at Aviva Canada, Ben Isotta-Riches. “We want to be at the forefront of a thriving Insurtech community in Canada. This is just the beginning for us.”
Following the completion of the program, each of the selected startups will present their plan for growth to Aviva Canada and Aviva Ventures executives for investment opportunities.
