If you like the Tangerine Money-Back Credit Card you’re probably going to want to check out the new vertically designed World Mastercard unveiled by Tangerine today.
According to Tangerine’s press release, the new credit card has no annual fee and is currently offering new cardholders 4% cash-back for the first three months in up to three categories of choice and 0.5% on all other purchases, just like the Money-Back Credit Card.
So how does the new version differ from the old version of this highly-ranked card? So far it looks like it’s all in the added benefits.
If you’re considering getting a credit card for the airport lounge access this might be the card for you. For a fee of US$32 per visit, cardholders will have access to Mastercard Airport Experiences, giving flyers exclusive dining, retail and spa offers in over 400 airports worldwide, along with access to more than 1,000 lounges.
Cardholders can also enjoy damage and theft protection for car rentals. Tangerine’s rental insurance will cover you so you’re not responsible for any damage to the rental car when you rent for up to 31 consecutive days and charge the full cost of your rental to your card.
It’s always advisable to read the fine print so you know exactly what rental car insurance covers and if you actually need it.
Another perk is mobile phone insurance. This protection covers new cell phones, smartphones, or tablets when you charge the full cost to your card, or when you purchase it through a plan and charge all of your wireless bill payments to your card. It also covers up to $1,000 if your mobile device is lost, stolen, accidentally damaged or experiences a mechanical failure.
Tangerine will be competing with other credit cards that offer mobile phone insurance like the Meridian Visa Infinite Cash Back Card, Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite Card and CIBC Aventura Visa Infinite Card.
